We have started learning about Ancient Egypt now and the children are very enthusiastic. In an Art/DT session the children created pyramids. After discussing the shape and what they might use to make their pyramid off they went. They range from the very small to enormous and show an array of skills and techniques. SO MUCH LEARNING.

Science - We were supposed to go out on a wild plant hunt but the rain came down! Instead the children got creative and made their own wild flowers. What amazing results!

We enjoyed a session at our school pond. We loved seeing the tadpoles darting around. We are hoping to see frogs soon!

Spring 2

Hummingbird Class and Robin Class enjoyed a very informative trip to the Synagogue in Oxford. We learnt such a lot about the Jewish faith.

Our Christian Vision Day - We spent the day exploring the ideas in 'The Parable of the Sower' and thinking about how this is reflected in our school ethos. The children decided that they are the seeds and out school and community is the rich soil that helps them to florish and learn.

Autumn 2

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

The finale of our Dinosaur work was our Dinosaur Day.

The children were faced with the problem that all exhibits in our Dinosaur Museum had been stolen and they had to create new ones.

 

They create dinosaur bones for a skeleton display and a teeth display to show herbivores and carnivores. They compared a real tortoise with the anklysaurus and created an exhibit all about the size of dinosaur.

Mrs Manley then opened the museum for all our visitors and the children became professional tour guides.

 

A fantastic day!

Remembrance 2018

 

In Hummingbird Class the children have thought sensitively about Remembrance. Some could recall Great Grandparents who fought in the wars and brought in information, metals and certificates to share with the class.

 

We also enjoyed taking part in the whole school poppy montage that was displayed outside the church. All the children enjoyed decorating a biscuit with a poppy to remember those lost. Even during independent learning time in the creative area the children create poppies in different ways and spoke about why we remember with poppies at this time.

 

I have never had a class get so involved and engaged in this significant event.

Muscial Appreciation - We listened to Sleeping Beauty Tchaikovsky and we watch a clip of the ballet and the children embraced this throughout the day with dance routines and costumes. They wanted to perform for everyone. It was such fun and brought smiles all around.

We enjoyed creating an erupting volcano during Science - We use vinegar and bicarbonate of soda to create a cemical reaction. It was very exciting!
