Help us make a difference to our School
Why Fund-Raise?
As parents we all want the best for our children during their time at school. We need to know that the standard of teaching is good, that our children are developing social skills, that the equipment is available to use and works well, there are extra curricular activities to participate in and that they can enjoy educational visits from time to time.
As key members we work alongside the staff and governors to raise additional school funds. However, anyone who has ever baked or bought a cake, buys a vegetable bag or attends Film Night or travelled by coach on a school trip has a stake in the success of our fund raising efforts. Every parent wants their children to gain the most from their time at Yattendon. From the moment your child joins, we are all "Friends of Yattendon School", after all, isn't that why out of all the school's we choose Yattendon?
Who are the FOYS Members?
WE ALL ARE! - However, the core members are as follows, if you don't know us personally, you can drop us a line via the school postbox:
Chair: Claire Goodhind Treasurer: Helen Page Secretary: Annette Bland
How we raise funds
With tremendous effort last year we managed to raise some £6,477 equating to around £100 per child. Our events included a Silent Auction, Halloween Disco, Wreath Making Evening, Cake Sales, Pig Racing Evening, 100 Club, Fruit and Vegetable bags, Film Nights and a sponsored circuits event. Hopefully, both parents and children have enjoyed these events whilst contributing to a better school for us all.
What’s in it for you ?
Without this fund raising activity you would have been asked to pay the cost of coach travel to the Pantomime, River and Rowing Museum, Poppy Factory and Reading Museum. Parents would have been asked to pay for the visit from the poet James Carter and the Knex workshop. Your child would not have an ice cream at the theatre, on the school trip or at sports day. We would not have a new shed for storing sports equipment or new books in the library.
How can you take part?
This is the easy part, and you don’t necessarily need to make the commitment to attend meetings to contribute, it really is the little things that make all the difference. Listed below you will find a summary of our planned events for the current term and a form for you to return indicating where you are able to help. There is also a supplementary page to this on "Getting involved". Please take a look.
