Claude Monet (March)

Claude Monet

In Art, we investigated the life and work of Claude Monet. We discovered that the Impressionist Movement was named after one of his first works, Impression: Sunrise. The impressionist painters loved to take canvases, easels and paints outdoors (en plein air) to create impressions of the beautiful natural world. This was at a time when the Victorian Industrial Revolution was in full swing!

We then explored one of Monet's most famous paintings, The Japanese Bridge, painted at his garden in Giverny. We experimented with different painting techniques and painted our own versions of the scene.

Finally, we looked at the beautiful water lilies and created 3D versions using paper plates and tissue paper.
