Shakespeare Week!

The theme for Shakespeare Week this year was wellbeing. Through investigation of characters from some of his most famous works, we explored ways in which we can understand ourselves and how we experience the world around us.

We started the week with investigation of a quote from Hamlet...

'This above all, to thine own self be true...'

In response to this quote, we created our own personal theatres with set designs showing places that make us feel comfortable or features from our lives that make us happy. We also investigated the meaning of identity through exploration of our fingerprints.

If Shakespeare were alive today, what might he write a play about? We explored the common themes within his plays (comedy, tragedy, history), then wrote and performed our own playscripts!
Following our exploration of 'The Tempest', we wrote monologues to summon storms!
We explored the illustration techniques of artist, Korky Paul, then created our own portraits of William Shakespeare.
