The PE and Sport Premium aims to improve healthy lifestyles among pupils and tackle childhood obesity. As part of the Childhood Obesity Plan, we are working with other departments and agencies – including the Department of Health and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport – to make sure children are healthy and active.

Sports Coach

The school has a Sports Coach (Premier Education) for a day a week to support the engagement of our pupils in regular physical activity. This also supports staff understanding of PE and games. They provide key stage lunch clubs and an after-school club which are very popular.  The school runs Inter-house Sports competitions throughout the year and an end of year Sports Day, a very successful event including a picnic, for parents, grandparents and the wider community.

Swimming

We support our pupils to meet the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum requirements for swimming. By the time our pupils leave Year 6, pupils can swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of 25 metres, use a range of strokes effectively and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.

Daily Mile

We enjoy the Daily Mile each day as a whole school. This is designated time for fresh air and exercise together and is valued by the staff and children.
