Testimonials

Past pupil success!

Harry achieved 5th for his first time showing cattle at his school Open Day! He has been loving sport, farming and horticulture this year.

Mum says, 'Thank you for believing in him all those years ago and supporting us during his time at Yattendon.'

Here are a few kind words that pupils, parents and other members of the community have said about our school.

"The school have been fantastic identifying and supporting us with our son's additional needs. We feel very grateful to have this support and to know that he will continue to be supported to achieve his potential."

Parent

"The school spirit gives the children a huge sense of belonging and instils strong values in them. The teachers truly care for the children and give them every opportunity to thrive."

“We came to the school mid summer term from living abroad and the children, my husband and I got such a warm welcome from everyone – head teacher, teachers and parents. The children settled in straight away (no tears at all!) which is such an indication as to how the school is – very caring, supportive and friendly.”

“Yattendon C of E School has everything we were looking for in a rural primary school. A fabulous nurturing atmosphere; happy, polite and caring children; solid education delivered with passion; lots of access and exposure to the beautiful countryside and an enlightened, caring head who is leading by example. Our children have flourished and been enthusiastically encouraged to explore their potential, making fantastic progress. We are thrilled with how they are developing, both educationally and as little people, but more importantly they are genuinely happy.”

“Although we’re out of catchment, Yattendon School was top of our list and we were so delighted to secure a place. What struck me the most was the warmth and maturity of the pupils who showed us around. Everyone was smiling and enthusiastic and that was the kind of school community we wanted our son to be part of.”

Parent

“It has been an extremely happy and nurturing place for both our son and daughter. Among other key areas that impress us are the many opportunities to be active. The chance to play sport four days-a-week simply doesn’t happen in many state schools. At Yattendon, teaching staff are very proactive and always find new opportunities to offer a wide range of sports (curricular, lunchtime, after school and holiday clubs as well as competitions out of school). Both my children recently participated in a multi school cross country challenge and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our school instils the ethos that anyone can try anything and both the staff and children are supportive of and celebrate each child’s successes. I feel very fortunate that my children attend Yattendon Primary School.”

"There’s never a dull moment at Yattendon. The school is the first to accept any opportunity to try something new with boundless enthusiasm, from netball tournaments, football, cross country and Bikeability to choir, science, STOMP and a cappella workshops. As well as various author, musician and poet visits, the children have a huge variety of new and creative opportunities outside of the curriculum. For a small school, they pack a lot in."

Parent

"With class sizes always under 30, my children effectively receive a quality of education that we would pay dearly for through private education. There are so many opportunities that are over and above what I would have expected – from paddling and climbing to an action-packed residential trip. School has an excellent relationship with Berkshire Maestros and all my children are learning a musical instrument at lunchtimes.”

“Yattendon School is a wonderful school and a vital part of our thriving community. The children are happy, well taught and provided with excellent pastoral care that equips and prepares them for God’s big world.

"The Estate supports the School as much as it can and recently provided an outside woodland classroom where the children can learn at first-hand about the wonder of creation and everything that lives within in it.

"The school is at the heart of village life and so many people from the Estate and the wider community are involved with it and contribute to make it the happy and successful place that it is. As a family we have been blessed to have such an amazing school for our own two young children to attend and they couldn’t be happier!”

“Excellent quality marking directly related to the pupils’ primary need and SAP outcomes.”

“My school is the best school in the world!”

Year 1 pupil

"Our small school achieves so much – not just evidenced by the attainment of our pupils but through an enrichment programme to compliment the curriculum, enabling every child to grow.  Working together is our key; staff, governors, parents, church and community work together for a common good - our children. As Governors, our leadership of the school is made all the more effective by our highly skilled and dedicated staff group under our inspired Headteacher.  I am proud to be a Governor at this school and on behalf of all Governors pledge our ongoing commitment to strive for excellence on behalf of the children we serve."

Thankyou so much to everyone for all you have done for me throughout my placement. I can't express how much I have learnt and how much I have grown in the last few months, none of which would have been possible without you!

Student Teacher

We are grateful to each of you for touching their lives so positively. If we didn't already respect teachers enough, our experience with home schooling took that respect to a whole new level...you're all superhumans!
